Our Rutgers group arrived to find a small group of students of many different ages chatting with each other. They were curious about us as we too were curious about them. Once being escorted into a classroom we were introduced to David. David is a man to admire. He is the new leader and ground developer of Teboho Trust. He devotes his time, and WEEKENDS(!) to providing a space where “kids can be kids”.
We met some of the student participants of TT and were filled with warmth during a short discussion and connection circle. We spent time sharing something we each loved about our self and thought about what we want to be “when we grow up”.
After our discussions we took a walk around their block to see some of the neighborhood get to know some the students more. I was able to meet a young man, Gift, who wants to go to college and has many dreams of what to study!
It was a day full of cheer, inspiration, and self reflection that will not be forgotten.
